It is a fact that people living in big towns and cities are facing numerous problems due to the highly increasing urban population. Nevertheless, there are solutions that can be taken by governments to mitigate the issues.

Overpopulation in urban areas has caused a number of challenges for human life regarding traffic system, health care and education services, and garbage disposal. First, it is clear that the more urban citizen number increases, the higher the demands in transportation are. Consequently, this brings about serious traffic congestion all over the cities as civil infrastructure cannot develop at the same pace with the growing number of vehicles. Second, the rapid growth of citizens would definitely weigh more burdens on health care and education sectors, causing heavy shortages in medical services for sick people and schools for children. Finally, densely-populated cities would have to deal with environmental issues related to an increasingly high amount of garbage disposed of every day.

Turning to solutions, governments can take actions to handle the aforementioned problems. It is clear that urban overpopulation is the main root for most of the serious matters happening in big cities. Therefore, encouraging people to migrate to smaller regional towns would be a radical way to resolve the issue. This would reduce the stress on the transport system, health care and education sectors in urban areas. Also, governments should develop advanced waste management and processing system in order to protect the urban environment from the huge amount of garbage and hazardous waste. Besides, raising public awareness in improving city life through media channels is also what governments should do to call for actions of the people.  

In conclusion, citizens in urban areas are struggling with multiple matters in terms of traffic jams, heavy shortage in medical and education services, and the growing waste disposal. Nonetheless, governments can implement plans and programmes to improve city life by encouraging migration to smaller regions, developing systems to manage and process trash properly, as well as calling for the cooperation of people.
