It comes as an emerging trend of using online channels to conduct business meetings or training at the present time. Personally, I argue that the advantages of this trend do outweigh its disadvantages making it more omnipresent than ever in running business.

The drawbacks of online operation are somewhat related to misunderstanding and strong dependence on technology. In terms of the former, online training with a lack of face-to-face contact with trainers and direct instructions may lead to misunderstanding of trainees, or employees. Learners may interpret the knowledge or information in various ways because of different cognitive ability in each person. Turning to the latter, business meetings or discussions via digital connection will also be dependent heavily on modern communication devices, in which any problems related to technology and the internet will definitely cause interference and disconnection.

However, the aforementioned weaknesses are minor compared to the enormous benefits that electronic communication brings to business operation. First, by having the digital connection business meetings and discussions are able to take place immediately regardless of physical distance. Besides, employees from different regions or countries are able to contact each other easily without travelling. This has been a significant boost to the business world in which managers can unify and come up with critical decisions and developing strategies faster than ever. Second, the online training system is a tremendous help to the Human Resources department in giving instructions and guidance to employees. In the past, it would take a lot of time, money and efforts to hold training sessions, but now all the instructional content and materials are systematised and stored online so that company’s staff can have virtual training courses on computers anywhere and anytime. This is a very economical measure to develop business.

In conclusion, operating company’s activities through digital connection are increasingly becoming ubiquitous. This trend introduces both pros and cons. Nevertheless, the drawbacks are very less important than various positive aspects which make it economically worthwhile for business development.
