Sample answer
The diagram gives information about the proportions of water used in three sectors among six areas of the world.
Overall, it is clear that water is primarily used for agricultural purposes in almost all of the areas mentioned, except for developed areas, in which industry sector consumes the highest amount of water. Meanwhile, water consumption for domestic use accounts for a minority in five regions given, except for Africa.
Agricultural purpose accounts for the largest amount of water used in Central Asia (88% - which is the highest figure in the graph as a whole), Africa (84%), South East Asia (81%) and South America (71%). By contrast, the agriculture sectors in North America and Europe consume only 39% and 32% of water respectively.
People living in North America and Europe utilise around half of the water for industry, while the other areas consume only a small amount of water for the same purpose, ranging from 5% to 12%. On the other hand, domestic water consumption makes up the smallest proportions in Central Asia, South East Asia, Africa, North America and Europe, as opposed to the second largest percentage of water being used in South America with 19%.
