The diagram illustrates how coal is used to generate electricity/ how electricity is generated through coal.
It is clear from the diagram that the process begins with crushing coal into (fine) powder and ends with transmitting electricity to the power lines.
First of all, coal is pulverized and then transferred into a furnace where it is burnt to heat the water (which is) from the cooling tower. The emission goes through the pipe and enters the precipitator. Then it is released into atmosphere through the smoke stack.
After being heated in the furnace, the water turns into steam and this steam passes through the pipe in order to reach the turbine. The steam makes the turbine, which is linked with a generator, rotate with the purpose of generating electricity. The electricity is transferred to/ transmitted to a substation and then travels along/ goes through the power lines.
As soon as the steam has passed the turbine, it enters into the cooling tower where it is precipitated into water at low temperature. This water is then pumped back in order to be heated (by the fire) in the furnace.
