The two maps gives information about modifications that have occurred in a coastal town called Manarola from 1995 to the present.
Overall, the town has undergone great urbanisation with manifold tourism and hospitality facilities and less open spaces. It is also noticeable that this place has become more densely populated with significant housing development.
Regarding the modifications related to tourism and hospitality, it is clear that the public park has been transformed into holiday homes and the renovation of the two hotels has taken place, converting them into high-rises. There is a car park which has been built recently, south east of the old public park. What originally facilities for sports is now turned into restaurants. The coffee shop has been relocated further to the east and a road leading to the coffee has been constructed. Another remarkable development is the transformation of the farm land north east of the town into golf course and tennis course. Also, the jetty west of the sea for morning fish boats has been demolished make space for yachts.
Turning to residential development, it can be seen that the fish market is now replaced with a range of apartments. The housing area west of the town has expanded with more houses and internal roads built.
